Week 12: April 28-May 4

Boy oh boy I've got some catching up to do!  Here I am, finishing up week 12's post while we are at the end of week 16... and a lot has happened since then, so stay tuned!

Speaking of a lot happening... I haven't mentioned on the blog that a few months ago Jim got selected for command, so he will become the next XO (Executive Officer) and then CO/Skipper (Commanding Officer) of his Naval flight squadron.  This is a HUGE honor!  And while he could do this from "anywhere" and as a reservist, I think we have decided to stay in Anacortes for the next few years (until December '17??) so that he can stay on as Active Duty (and not have to have a different full time job, doing this "on the side").  This will be great for our family in that he won't have to be traveling away from us as often.  A pro and a con will probably be my work schedule - I imagine I will stay part time (I go back to Western Washington on June 25th teaching on Mon/Wed) but that will also give me more time at home with our little buddies!

So, on to week 12:
This week marked the end of Stroller strides in Anacortes.  A bummer that it had to end right as the weather was becoming delightful, but with me going back to work (and leaving for a few weeks of vacation) and the other instructor resigning, there was no one left to teach!  I have been doing the couch to 5K running training program with my friend Julia.  We do our runs with the stroller, so that certainly adds to the challenge!

A couple funny things that Mason said this week:
- While we were at swimming lessons, he pointed to an exit sign, asking what it said.  When I said that is the "Exit" he said, "I want to go in there, I like to eat eggs!"  (Get it?? Eggs... Exit??!  hee hee)
- At the grocery store, he kept wanting to grab some coffee and I said, "I'm pretty sure that is NOT your coffee," to which he quickly responded, "I'm pretty sure that IS my coffee!"

This week was also the end of the water baby swimming class we were doing.  This class was more a frustration for me than anything else.  For the month I took Mason out of school on Tuesdays and Thursdays just so we could attend this 30 minute class.  I drug Jackson with us to every class - through the locker room getting dressed and showering, to the pool deck while we had class, back through the locker room again to shower off and get re-dressed.  It was quite a feat by myself!  If only it were worth it... but unfortunately the class did not amount to much ~ minimal instruction and minimal improvement.  Though now that the class is over, he does seem to like practicing "swimming" (lying on his belly) and blowing bubbles in the bath tub.  I just feel like we missed a year last year with not doing much swimming, and in a place like Anacortes where there is only an indoor pool with very minimal family recreation hours, we don't get many opportunities in the pool as it is.  Jim and I both want Mason to be a comfortable little fishy in the water!

Mason has also been visiting the "big boy classroom" (the preschool room) at school.  When we get back from our trip, he'll be officially moved up to that room!

I'm clearly a fan of Mason's bed time shenanigans.  Here's a little nuzzling in for nap bideo

Planning our grocery list
Grumpus face
Bedtime snuggles
Giggles for Daddy
Sweet smiles
More great nap time whack-a-mole
And yes, it was actually 78 degrees in his room... that's what you get living in Washington with no air conditioning and the sun shining in the house!  (I can't wait for Daddy to install ceiling fans while we are on our trip!)
He makes hearts come out of my eyes!
Cheese face showing off his new haircut.
We went back to my salon in town, to see Mrs. Nikki.  He does really with her, doesn't seem scared or timid at all!  I'm glad we aren't having to drive to Seattle for a kid cut salon, and I don't even mind going out for our special treat froyo afterwards!  :)
sup?
Big score with 2 sleeping children
Another one of Jim's sons who loves checking himself out in the mirror ;)
All week, Mason has been working to earn 10 stickers on this box by "making good choices" during meal time (not blowing bubbles, using his silverware instead of fingers for applesauce, etc)
He had no idea what would be inside... he got a grocery basket full of pretend grocery items which he is really enjoying!
Sweet sitting superman
And a couple great videos to end the week:
My poops smell yucky: I wanted a video of how Mason "backs that thing up" to get on the potty... the "my poops smell yucky" comment was bonus!  ;)
Giggles soon?
Scooter boy's new trick
Almost three months old!
