Week 15: May 19 - 25th

A full week in NC... well, other than the 3 day road trip we took to NoVA/DC ;).
We drove up on Monday, stayed 2 nights, and came back on Wednesday.  Mason enjoys watching movies on his iPad, and also stopping at a ChickFilA for an activity/lunch break, and Jackson has been pretty happy go lucky, along for the ride, and still sleeps a lot especially when in motion.

The afternoon we got to DC, we played at a park, got a Starbucks treat, and shopped in Old Town a bit while waiting for Sweetie to get home from work.  Then we were all leaving to head out to dinner with my friend Chelsa and her 3 kids, but Mason threw up before we got in the car :(.  He felt really hot, but I never took his temperature.  He was very clingy that evening and enjoyed two lime popsicles.  He never threw up again, and seemed better in the morning, so we continued on with our adventures.
Silly hat riding the metro to the National zoo

Selfies with zebras and a seal
(he had little interest in looking at the camera for selfies, he wanted to look at the animals!)
Two monkeys on the left, and our close-up with an elephant on the right!
We had the "best" spot to see the elephant up close and personal...
He turned around, spread his legs, and peed and pooped right in front of us!
Right when we needed a break for a Jack Jack snack, we happened upon a splash zone!
This cuteness tagged along everywhere we went.

Then we took the metro into the city to move to an indoor museum for another few hours... but like a tourist, I picked the "Smithsonian" metro stop, which was nowhere near the Smithsonian we wanted to go to... so we enjoyed a nice walk while taking in some sites.
We got a Washington Monument and a Capitol building selfie, then finally got to the Natural History Museum only to find a ridiculous line out the door.  I decided it would be better to just hop back on the metro and go play at Sweetie's house for an hour or two before meeting our friends for dinner.
We met Jason and Michelle at a park near the Pentagon City Mall and started by walking over to the mall to pick up some Noodles for dinner.  I loved the whole thing - it was a beautiful day, a fun park, and so fun to be able to just park in one spot and walk to everything.  Mason seemed warm again that night, but in good spirits.  So we got some children's Advil while we were out, and he seemed cool within 30 minutes of taking it, so I wasn't too concerned.  He was in good spirits all night.
Mason was never a big fan of swings as a baby or even a toddler, but lately he loves them.
I love our friends and how much they love our kids!
Left: Sweetie and boyfriend Ryan with Jackson
Right: Mason, Michelle, and Harbour with Mas
The next morning we headed back to NC
Lola had gotten the exersaucer out of storage while we were gone.  Jackson seemed to fit in it really well and like it! (Look at those chunky thighs!!)

One afternoon we went to an indoor trampoline place called DefyGravity. MasonMommy, and even Lola bounced out our energy and took a GREAT nap that day.  I wish there was one of these near us... they even do adult exercise classes!
The boys and "their" play mat
Lola and Mason's romantic Cheetos snack date, complete with his rainbow candle.
My graduation family celebration at Chop 'em Up :)
I love how Mason is looking at Chef Guy so lovingly <3
This boy locks his eyes on to me and just stares.  I love it!
Rubbing the belly for good luck
I watched Mason build Olaf the snowman one bean bag at a time.
3 Purple beanbags for his body, a green one for the hat on top, and a green one in the front for his carrot nose.  According to Mason, he was still missing arms, unfortunately.
Sisters day out!  (Man, we used to have these about 15 years ago)
Mason's new fascination is FIRE FIGHTERS!
Lola spoils him with all the fun cool gear ;)
Which is a good thing, because Lola was on FIRE!!
Jackson did some fire fighting too :)
And we really enjoyed some cool outdoor temps our last night in NC
Bojangles fries dipped into honey mustard = PROUD momma!
But then we had to clean him off with the firehose!  ;)
And we discovered Mason's hidden talent: stomach rolls
Lola got some good Jack Jack giggles
Our last night in NC was most definitely my favorite, just because we stayed home, ordered take out, and everyone (Chad and his girlfriend Brandy, and Paige and her boyfriend Mike) came to hang out.  It was much easier to chat and catch up, I didn't have to "manage" my boys and Mason could just play, play, play!
 Early morning goodbyes
 Bittersweet!
We were all super tired, which lead to a great snuggle on the airplane
Two boys and their thumbs
(Mason doesn't suck his thumb, but he does have 4 molars coming through, and seems to have his hands in his mouth a lot these days)
Mason even helped hold his bro.
I would never say I "like" flying by myself with the kids, but they were both super good and I couldn't have asked for more!
15 week surprised face!
