The Rest of July and PORTLAND!

Mason
- One day when we were with Lola, she gave Mason the bigger Cheeto of the two that were left.  I made a comment about how that was true love... to which Mason replied, "Mom, why don't you have true love for Jackson, because you give him littler things?"   HA HA HAAAA!

Jackson:
- This not so little one is growing faster than I can keep up with on the blog: he is saying two words together (up mommy, sauce please, hold you), copying everything Mason does, walking, running, skipping (looks a little more like a dance move where his feet don't leave the ground), and two-foot, jumping - his feet actually both lift up!

Silly and sweet boys: Mr. Waternoose on the left

Mason learning a little bit about teamwork
Kids fest at Storvik park, Jackson "hug aboo hug aboo"
Mason got to ride Henry the horse, Yee Haw (with his lasso on the right)
Firefighter Mason!
Jackson shooting hoops, and singing his bedtime song with me <3
Jackson's first day at the Y (aka "Mason's school)!
He started by going Tues/Thurs 7:30-12:30 and it went pretty well!
He was so chatty every day I picked him up, he had so much to say!
Brothers and suckers, while we got Daddy his new iPhone.
The boys and I went to Portland to meet up with my mom, sister and aunt for our annual shopping trip.  We got there the night before they did and met an Anacortes friend (who was also passing through) for dinner.  They had some great play areas so the kids could play while we waited, and also while we ate.
My bed buddy, finally asleep by 10:45 pm... resting up for family time!
We started our trip by going on a hike.  We wanted to hike to the volcano, but apparently the volcano is not there anymore.  It was still very pretty, and some fun views of the city!

There was a fun park too, for those of us who still had energy after the hike.
(Lola must have had some energy left, she was awesome!)
And for those who STILL had energy - a little monkey business while we waited for our lunch to go.
A few family pics before heading out to shop!
That pretty red vase on the table didn't last long... Jackson dropped it into tiny pieces (oops!)
The shopping scene was not too amenable to my active sweet boys.
We could see an ice skating rink on the bottom level through the middle of the mall and Mason was very interested.  So we went down there, made sure he was old enough to skate, and then went shopping for some jeans and gloves to give it a try!
I was so worried we would spend all that money and he would fall down right away and not want to skate anymore...
But he LOVED it!  We must have skated for a good 2 hours.  He did really awesome!  He did fall a lot, but he would hop right back up!  As you can see from the "bideo" he even did some jumping tricks, ha ha!  And right after I stopped the video he said, "and I just get right back up!"
Meanwhile Jackson got to hang out with the family, ride some rides, and play with a balloon!

Dinner at 9:30 pm that night... we were the only ones in the restaurant so I let the boys get a little crazy.  Chopsticks for drumsticks!!
Jackson doesn't seem to sleep well in the pack n play - so I had 2 snuggly boys in bed that night!
Day 2 we took the sky tram up up and away!
Lots more great views
Mason loved this bunny sculpture's bum-bum.  HA HA!
Best of all, we found a vending machine with cheetos!  Lola's special treat!
Speaking of special treats, next we went to VooDoo donuts!  Silly but delicious donuts.
I think Mason's "grape ape" (grape koolaid on top) was the best!
Then it was off the the mall for more shopping - er, more playtime for me and the boys!
That was as much Portland fun as these boys could handle.  I took them to Seattle to meet up with Daddy that night, and got to have some shopping and lady time without my littles!
At the Saturday market and then Mom and I at Jam for brunch (maybe my favorite of the whole trip?!)
Jim tried to make it seem like he didn't have a handle on the situation,
But really he did awesome.  He took them for a breakfast picnic at the park
And to the Farmers Market
 And on a hike
And to the snag boat (Mason's favorite!)
And even out for ice cream!
(Literally, I think all of these events happened within one day.  Gotta keep those littles busy!)
I sure enjoyed my ~36 hours of freedom.  But check out this awesome welcoming party as I returned home!
Lola got to come back with me for a few extra days, and of course we had to take the boys to IHOP!
We also went to Western and walked around.  I always think these look fun to climb on!
While in Bellingham, we had lunch at a pizza place that gives the kids dough to play with.  Mason wanted to bring it home and play some more!
School day!  Mason likes when we bring the stroller, because then he gets to ride in it after we drop Jackson off :)
A Washington Park playdate with some friends!
"It's like an animal show!" ~Mason

Finally, we ended the month with Jackson and I enjoying a little garage sale event and time with friends,
While Jim and Mason went on another camping trip!
Geez, looks like there was extra junk food this time.
(There's a burn ban in effect, so they couldn't even do a camp fire, but Mason has grown accustomed to "having some junk" while camping.  lol)

Looks like a pretty awesome campsite!
And two happy (but tired) boys heading back home.
(While Mason seems to REALLY enjoy camping and Daddy time, he definitely doesn't sleep as well and is very thrown off for the following day.  But one look at his smiles in these pictures, and it's so worth it!)

Stay tuned, surely I'll get around to updating August sometime between October and December.  ;)
